THE CALMING RESPONSE
The Resilience Builder™ software that we use in our programs provides feedback on your levels of the calming response. It does this by measuring Heart Rate Variability (HRV) - higher levels of HRV are associated with higher levels of the calming response.
The following is a summary of some of the research on HRV. As you will see, the benefits of increased levels of HRV (the calming response) are broader than just resilience.
In fact many researchers are suggesting that the calming response might be the pathway that makes the connection between mind and body.
  Higher levels of stress resilience
  Measures positive emotionality
  Treating depression
  Improving mood
  Predicts mortality
Measures long term effects of stress
  Measure of emotional intelligence
Links heart disease to social position
  Lowering blood pressure
Explains the link between illness and shift work?
  Treating post traumatic stress disorder
